Little Yellow Dress

It was the beautiful Tayla's 18th birthday last week, and was also one of the hottest days we've seen for a while, and then again one of the wettest too, but I accommodated for the first so chose this lovely bright summer dress from ASOS Curve.
It was lovely and summery but not good for wind. Flashing was common that day, and I apologise to a few of my friends. Oops.
I also didn't get a clear photo of the outfit, and the only full body shot shows me being classily barefoot.
So here's a bunch of candid shots with my lion hair and bright summer dress.
I also bought a second of these dresses which I'm planning on altering into a skirt and a crop top/bodice.
Sewing skills: activate!

The wonderful Brittney Lee

As a fairly impatient person who never quite mastered paper doll chains, these seem absolutely magical to me.
Brittney Lee is a marvellous illustrator who does intricate works with layers of paper. I can only just fathom how much work goes into the planning and construction of each piece.
(And, you know, she loves Harry Potter too, which automatically earns points with me.)
Basically, if you want to drool over some beautiful, high quality art, head over to her website and enjoy

Sorry!

Sorry I haven't posted anything for quite a while, but I've been doing exams and have just been extraordinarily lazy. I went out on Friday so should have a new outfit post soon.

Like a Version

I very rarely buy cd's because I am a cheapo, but I bought this on impulse after watching Owl Eyes cover of Pumped Up Kicks the other day.
I absolutely adore it! I'm not a big radio listener, but I love covers and reinterpretations of popular songs.
My favourite tracks are:
  • Dance The Way I Feel - Gossling
  • Sharp Dressed Man- The Beards
  • Somebody That I Used To Know- Eskimo Joe
  • Pumped Up Kicks- Owl Eyes
  • Everybody Wants To Rule The World- Andy Bull
I especially love the amount of Australian artists being wonderful. Local music is often lost behind the hype surrounding the bigger international acts, but Australia has some extremely quality artists.

Catherine Campbell Calendars- Yay Alliteration!

My birthday is coming up soon and Mum wanted to know what I would like.
Originally, I was coveting the Frankie 2012 calendar, but Catherine Campbell, one of my favourite Australian artists, has a set of monthly postcard sized prints. As I'll have limited space next year, with lots of wall, these will make either a beautiful mural or a discreet piece of useful art.
Buy them here at her etsy for only $20!

It's time to enter the big, bad world, Kids.

On the 27th of October I had my final day of High School.
Ever.
As in, I don't have to go back to my routine of my hour long bus trip every morning and afternoon, and sitting in school for 6 hours a day five times a week.
I sound like I'm whinging, but dear lord I will miss it.
My first few years of highschool were absolutely awful, I had depression and avoided going to school so I wouldn't have to face the people who made my life hell.
It's almost incomparable to my last few years at school. I found people I loved and who treated me like a human, and I looked forward to going to school almost every day.
I'm not an overly academic person, and I struggle to work hard, but I'm going to try in the future.
It's going to be odd not seeing the same 54 people who I spent the last 6 years with, thinking of us all taking our own paths and beginning adult lives.
Good luck.

Family Day

Today I went to get photos done with my extended family, including my brothers, sister, Dad and stepmum who I haven't seen for a few months.
Paddy just keeps growing and I'm waiting for him to finally overtake me as the tallest child. The photos were taken in the beautiful Botanical gardens in Ballarat, and I decided to wear my favourite Summer dress, my new Asos Curve dress.
I especially adore the cutout at the back, and it fits my waist perfectly.
I really cannot wait for it to start getting even hotter, I love Summer in Australia.

Get down to Bizness

I love face paint, bright colours, stop motion, and kids imitating adults.
This video clip ticks every single box.
Bizness by  tUnE-yArDs
I'm not necessarily enthusiastic about the name, but director Mimi Cave has done an amazing job.
Her other videos are just as bright and beautiful :)

Baggu

My birthday is coming up soon, and my Mum told me to write up a list of things I want.
This is a very dangerous thing to do, and I spent most of the last two nights scouring the internet for lovely things I might want. One of my favourite discoveries was the Baggu website, which I got unfathomably excited about.
As I won't have a car/bike next year, I'm going to be walking everywhere and therefore some sturdy shopping bags are a must. Also, I'm shallow, so they have to be stylish. They also have canvas backpacks and totes, and everything comes in beautiful bright colours and patterns. The majority of my birthday list is these bags, and I'll be nabbing a few for my friends for their birthdays/Christmas because they are the perfect mix of useful and aesthetically pleasing.
